Mary Thompson
Taking and making pictures is high on my list of pleasurable activities, endlessly discovering new ways to develop my skills and creativity.
The challenge of hard work and structured assignments of an OU/RPS online course motivated me to continue to study and work toward an RPS Licentiate – I enjoy having a goal. I like the technical side of photography. I currently use a Canon EOS600D for macro and indoor work; a Fuji X-T20 for outdoor work; and my Galaxy S7 phone camera lives in my pocket!
Before retiring I was a Teaching and Supervising Psychotherapist. My deep interest in people now underpins my search to understand how a photographer develops personal style and genre preferences as a means of expressive communication. What kind of photographer am I? The title of one of my favourite books conveys it… “The Tao of Photography – Seeing Beyond Seeing” (Gross and Shapiro: 2001).
